PC Drops Game One of Series Against EMU

CLINTON, S.C. – Although Mikah Conner, Jackson Hugus (x2), and Trey Fenderson all notched doubles, the Presbyterian College baseball team (4-5) fell to the Eastern Michigan Eagles (3-4) on Friday evening with a final score of 8-2.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
- An error by the Eagles' second baseman allowed Conner to cross home plate in the first inning and give PC an early 1-0 lead.
- Rhogue Wallace's sacrifice bunt in the bottom of the second brought Hugus in for a run, bumping Presby's advantage to 2-0.
- The top of the third inning saw EMU score a pair of runs, tying the score at two points apiece.
- The Eagles' Harrison Travis homered in the top of the third inning, giving EMU a 4-2 lead.
- The opponents took a run in the fifth inning before EMU's Logan Hugo hit one out of the park to add three to their tally.
- EMU was able to hold the Blue Hose scoreless for the last seven innings of the game, walking away with an 8-2 victory.
 
NOTABLES
- Jackson Hugus hit a pair of doubles today, marking his first and second of the season.
- As the first at bat in the bottom of the first inning, Mikah Conner knocked one into center field as his third double of the year.
- Trey Fenderson's double down the left field line in the eighth marked his second of the season.
- Tyrell Williams closed out the final four innings on the bump where he threw four punches while holding batters to just two hits and no runs.
 
UP NEXT
The Blue Hose return to the field tomorrow for a doubleheader against EMU beginning at 12:00 p.m.
