CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College lacrosse team has arrived at the 2025 Big South opener after an 11-day layoff, welcoming the Panthers of High Point to Bailey Memorial Stadium tomorrow night. First draw is labeled for 4:00 PM.
Already the seventh home match of the spring for the Blue Hose and sixth-year head coach
Eric Clakeley, Wednesday's duel in Clinton will be streamed live on ESPN+. PC will attempt to defeat HPU for the first time in history, unsuccessful in 15 tries dating back to 2011.
The Blue Hose were last seen in a rare road outing against Kennesaw State over a week ago, able to muster just two second-half strikes in a 15-7 setback to the Owls. They currently hold a 3-6 overall record, as it's strictly conference opponents from this point forward.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
- High Point poses quite the challenge for the Scotsmen tomorrow, fresh off a landmark victory over ACC member Virginia Tech in Blacksburg. Head coach Lyndsey Boswell's group earned a 14-13 result over the Hokies, scoring all but two of their goals in the first three periods.
- Junior attacker Reese Dowgiallo was named the Big South Offensive Player of the Week in the wake of the VT triumph, producing eight points in the upset (four goals, four assists). Sophomore keeper Ava Welsh similarly snagged the league's Defensive Player of the Week award, collecting 14 saves in the win.
- Starting the season 1-4 against some stout competition (including a 26-21 shootout with Liberty, a tight four-point loss to #19 Navy, and an 18-17 heartbreaker against William & Mary), High Point has ramped up their scoring output significantly during a three-game winning streak.
- The Panthers have totaled 52 goals in wins over Elon, Coastal Carolina, and the aforementioned Hokie humbling. They're averaging nearly 17 points per game in wins, going 12-6 a season ago and advancing to the Big South Championship match.
LAST TIME OUT
- An 8-2 difference in the final 30 minutes powered Kennesaw to the win over Presby back on March 15, with true freshman
Emily Currie leading PC by scoring a hat trick.
- Coach Clakeley's club is putting together almost 18 goals per match in outings where they ended up on top, although the other side of the coin is seven goals during games where the result was a loss.
- Someone has scored exactly 15 goals in each of PC's last three appearances (a win over Fairleigh Dickinson and two defeats to KSU and Merrimack). Seventy percent of Presby's shots have been on-goal, while the same number exists for the opposition.
- Currie (eighth in the nation among freshmen with 23 scores) and senior
Willow Hammond have added up for 53 points throughout the non-conference path.
