PC Goes to Greenville for Midweek Meeting at Furman

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Big South grind continues for the Presbyterian College lacrosse team, beginning a sequence of three matches in 10 days tomorrow by visiting nearby Furman at 7:00. ESPN+ will have the call as the Blue Hose look to right the ship down the stretch.

Furman, Longwood, and Wofford stand in the way of a postseason bid for head coach Eric Clakeley's program, aiming for a top-six spot in the conference standings which would guarantee a ticket to the league bracket.

Presby will battle a Paladin opponent who is in the mix for the conference's top three, a squad that has never been defeated in seven attempts versus the Blue Hose and the same school that took a narrow loss in last season's Big South semifinals.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT

- The '25 campaign is season number one at Furman for newly-minted head coach Gail Wallach following two years at nearby Anderson of the NCAA Division II level. She made quite the first impression, getting the Paladins off to a 5-0 start over the first three weeks.

- A high-powered attack averaging 15 goals per contest, the Paladins put up 23 scores in their most recent appearance as they sprinted past Longwood by 13 points.

- Rookie Lily Toole was tabbed as the Big South Freshman of the Week after aiding the Lancer victory, scoring four goals and dishing out four assists on the same day. Furman set new program-records last weekend by assisting on 18 of their 23 goals, a grand total of 41 points secured.

- Furman's only blemish in league territory was a seven-point setback to High Point in North Carolina, already surpassing last season's win count with a week-and-a-half left on the regular season radar.

LAST TIME OUT

- In a matchup between two divisional foes who sported the same conference record, Presbyterian came up short at home against Gardner-Webb last Saturday.

- An 8-5 final decision, the Blue Hose limited the Runnin' Bulldogs to just one goal in the final 30 minutes but were unable to gain much ground themselves due to a six-point halftime hole.

- Each match gains even more importance as the team hits a pivotal point on the schedule, hoping to bump a three-game losing skid and knock off Furman for the first time ever.

- The senior/freshman duo of Willow Hammond and Emily Currie has added up for nearly half of the team's 173 points this spring, while PC as a unit has accounted for a shot-on-goal ratio of 72 percent.
