PC at Longwood in Last Road Matchup of 2025

FARMVILLE, Va. – The seventh and final time that the Presbyterian College lacrosse team hits the road in the regular season, Saturday afternoon will set the stage for an important meeting between the Blue Hose and Longwood. Opening draw in Farmville is scheduled for 12:00 PM.

Both PC and the Lancers are looking to claw their way back into the postseason picture following recent misfortunes, currently on the outside of the six-seed line. Presby and Longwood's last appearance was a loss to Furman, separated by four days.

Tomorrow will be Longwood's first game in a full week, winless at home this year in five tries. Despite the Paladin defeat, LU has put up 27 goals in their last two outings (more than any other two-game span this season).

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT

- Longwood stumbled out of the gates after making it to the Big South Tournament 12 months ago, losing each of their first 10 matches that followed an eight-win trek the spring prior.

- Head coach Dwayne Hicks and co. would get the monkey off their back against Radford earlier this month (a common opponent who PC also shares a win over), outlasting the Highlanders 17-13.

- The Lancers harbored a six-point lead at one point in the 3rd and 4th quarters, and although Radford threatened to make it interesting with three scores in the final 2:30, LU would hold on and cast away that double-digit losing streak.

- While Longwood was largely competitive against a very stout Furman foe last weekend (down by just a trio at halftime), they'd fall behind 13-3 in the final 30 minutes and lose the draw control statistic 27-10.

LAST TIME OUT

- Hoping to avenge a 16-13 setback to the Lancers in Clinton last season, the Blue Hose came out swinging against the Paladins on Wednesday but, like Longwood, ran out of steam as the match wore down and ended with an 11-point loss.

- Senior Willow Hammond scattered five first-half goals to officially place her 10 away from second place in the all-time Presbyterian record book. She was joined by four combined connections from Emma Claire Mills and Emily Currie.

- PC held the advantage after the first period (4-3) while keeping Furman off the board entirely for the first 13 minutes. Once the home side found their groove, however, it was hard to slow down as the Paladins earned 27 shots-on-goal and dominated draw controls 28-7.

- Head coach Eric Clakely's club marched into Farmville back in 2021 to pick up Presby's first-ever victory against Longwood, grinding out a 12-11 decision. Since then, LU has won the last three in the series, including a rain-drenched affair in 2023 where the Lancers won by six.
