Blue Hose Fall Short in Extra-Inning Finale Against Charleston Southern

CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College baseball team (17-24, Big South: 9-9) dropped a hard-fought 6-4 decision in 11 innings to the Charleston Southern Buccaneers (24-16, Big South: 10-8) on Sunday evening at the PC Baseball Complex.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Charleston Southern jumped out early with three runs in the top of the first inning.
  • Presbyterian responded immediately, plating three runs in the bottom half to even the score. Rhogue Wallace singled to third base to start the rally, followed by a single to second base from Trey Fenderson. Amman Dewberry then launched a three-run homer over the right field wall to tie the game at 3-3.
  • Strong pitching from both sides kept the game deadlocked until the eighth inning.
  • The Buccaneers took a 4-3 lead with a sacrifice fly in the top of the frame, but the Blue Hose answered once again. Fenderson doubled down the left field line before Jake Randolph delivered a sacrifice fly to bring him home and knot the score at 4-4.
  • After a scoreless ninth, the game moved into extra innings.
  • Following a quiet 10th, the Buccaneers pushed across two runs in the top of the 11th.
  • PC was unable to answer in the bottom of the inning, resulting in a 6-4 final score.
