SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Former Presbyterian Blue Hose standout golfer Sam Jackson won the 94th annual South Carolina Golf Association Amateur Championship at The Carolina Country Club in Spartanburg, South Carolina, on Sunday, July 27.
Jackson birdied the final hole to win the championship by one stroke. Jackson recorded a four-day score of 17-under-par 271 with rounds of 69, 64, 69, and 69. Jackson tallied 24 birdies in his four rounds, including posting a birdie on the 18
th hole in three of his four rounds.
With the win, Jackson qualifies for the U.S. Amateur at The Olympic Club in San Francisco, August 11-17.
JACKSON'S PRESBYTERIAN CAREER
The Pelion, South Carolina native, was a stalwart for the Blue Hose from 2011-15. Jackson finished his career ranked among the program's DI era leaders in rounds played, with 122. He currently ranks sixth in the program's DI era career strokes average leaders, after averaging 74.8 strokes per round in his four-year career. He recorded six Top 10 finishes in his Presbyterian career.
