CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's soccer team continues a four-match homestand tomorrow night inside Martin Stadium, welcoming an opponent from less than an hour away who they've competed against every year since 2008: the Furman Paladins.
First touch is labeled for 7:00 PM, an outing between two clubs who have already won five games between them. Furman comes to PC on Thursday as winners of their last three, just finishing up a four-game homestand themselves.
Head coach
Matt Smith's gang was handing out goals left and right in a Sunday demolition over Alabama State, achieving the program's highest-scoring performance since 2018 in a 5-0 result. Presby scored twice before the match was even five minutes old, hoping for a similar offensive output against their South Carolina rivals.
Thanks to a second-half hit by then-senior
Gwen Keiser in Greenville, the Blue Hose shelved a five-game losing streak to the Paladins in their last encounter (2-1). Smith has won 35 games over schools from S.C. in his head coaching career, as Presbyterian looks to beat the Paladins for the first time ever at home.

SCOUTING THE PALADINS
- Earning 10 victories last fall and advancing to the Southern Conference Semifinals where they fell to Samford via an 88
th-minute heartbreaker, Furman has started the '25 stretch with a couple of excellent showings and a three-game winning streak.
- Yet to play a road game up until now, the Paladins rebounded from a season-opening 1-0 setback to South Florida by defeating Georgia State, Bob Jones, and most recently Charleston Southern.
- Furman has not allowed a goal in over 200 minutes, shutting out their last two challengers by a combined tally of 7-0. In the CSU victory, Furman scored twice within two minutes in the early portion of the second half.
- Head coach Andrew Burr has held that title at Furman for the last two decades, as the Paladins have assisted on seven of their nine goals scored.
PC STINGS ALABAMA STATE
- The result of Sunday's affair with ASU was in doubt for a grand total of two minutes as Presbyterian launched an offensive assault to win their second straight bout.
- Senior
Lindsey Malyszek published her second two-goal effort with a couple of first-half connections, and PC went into the halftime break with three scores for the first time in seven years.
- Included in Presby's dominant win was transfer
Anna Hussey finding her first goal in a blue and garnet uniform, as well as sophomore
Harlan Lyons notching her second straight game with a goal scored.
- Rookie forward
Maddi Merryweather grabbed her first college point by assisting on Lyons' goal in the 78
th minute, while
Allie Williams solicited two assists on the day.
- Lost in the shuffle a bit due to PC's assembly of goals, freshman keeper
Febe Dombrecht pitched her second shutout in three attempts. The Belgium native has allowed just one goal in 266 minutes to begin her college career.
SPEES RECORD WATCH
- With her goal at the 2:21 mark last weekend, senior captain
Sloan Spees moves one step closer to making Blue Hose history as she disclosed her 15
th career score. That puts her one away from tying the school's Division I-era record, set by Sara Simpson in 2013.
- Spees has equaled the number that Tori Lopez (a teammate of Simpson's) settled on, needing just two more goals to become Presbyterian's new record-holder in the D-I timeline which spans back 18 years.
