Zack Heeman Tabbed to Coach Presbyterian Offensive Line

CLINTON, S.C. – The offensive staff for the Presbyterian College football team is nearly complete under first-year head coach Matt Rahl, announcing Zack Heeman as PC's new Offensive Line Coach on Tuesday morning.

A player and coach at two separate Big Ten institutions, Heeman joins the Blue Hose after a two-year graduate assistant position at the University of Wisconsin. He also coached at the high school level for five seasons and played at Rutgers University.

"Coach Heeman and I come from the same tree of offensive line coaches", commented Rahl, who himself was the director of PC's O-Line for the past two years prior to being elevated to Head Coach in late December.

"He has a great reputation of pouring into people and their development, from his time as a high school coach all the way to Wisconsin. I can't wait to watch him grow this group at PC!"

Wisconsin (2024-25)

- Working under head coach Luke Fickell (who previously made it to the four-team College Football Playoff in 2021), Heeman helped develop two offensive linemen to the National Football League: Tanor Bortolini, a 4th-round pick of the Indianapolis Colts, and Jack Nelson, a 7th-round selection of the Atlanta Falcons.

- Heeman's second and final year in Madison was highlighted by a 13-10 upset over #24 Washington in November. The Badgers also found a 17-point win over Illinois in the penultimate game of the 2025 season.

- Wisconsin ranked second in the Big Ten and 14th nationally in fewest sacks allowed during Heeman's first year (2024), finishing in the upper-half of the conference with 154 rushing yards per game.

- Opponents registered just three tackles-for-a-loss per game against Heeman's front line, good enough to rank 10th in NCAA in 2024.

- That year, Wisconsin acquired three consecutive league victories over Purdue, Northwestern, and Rutgers by an average margin of 34 points.

New Jersey High Schools (2019-23)

- Heeman spent five years at the prep stage before advancing to Wisconsin, the first four of which came at Mount Olive High School in Flanders, New Jersey.

- At MOHS, he coached the offensive line and assisted the Marauders to a 2023 State Sectional Championship. Mount Olive combined to go 19-5 in Heeman's second and fourth seasons.

- Before Mount Olive, Heeman was also the offensive line coach at West Windsor Plainsboro High School for the 2019 campaign.

- Throughout his high school tenure, Heeman helped send four offensive linemen to the next level. That includes Aidan Lynch, who was the second-ranked tackle in the state of New Jersey at the time and who currently plays for Virginia Tech.

Player at Rutgers (2014-18)

- A native of New Jersey, Heeman suited up for the Rutgers Scarlet Knights and appeared in 28 games. He made numerous starts at left tackle, right tackle, and left guard.

- He never missed a start over his entire senior season, twice elected to the Team Leadership Council. Heeman was the recipient of the 2019 Bill Deny / Rutgers Football Letterwinners Scholar-Athlete Award.

- A semifinalist for the Campbell Trophy in 2018, which recognizes the best scholar-athlete in all of FBS football, he was a three-time member of the Academic All-Big Ten team and was twice chosen as a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar.

- Rutgers assembled eight victories during Heeman's freshman season and won the Quick Lane Bowl over North Carolina by 19 points.
