SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Presbyterian College women's golf team played the opening 18 holes of the Terrier Intercollegiate at The CC of Spartanburg on Monday afternoon (Oct. 12).
Sloane Spessard finished in the top 20 on the first day, sitting in a tie for 18th with a 75. As a team, Presbyterian concluded day one in 11th place with a total score of 311. UNC Greensboro and Eastern Kentucky share the lead entering Tuesday's final round.
NOTABLES
- Sloane Spessard carded a team-high three birdies to lead the team in the first round, turning in a 75. She birdied holes five, twelves, and eighteen. She shot PC's low-nine holes of the day, firing a 37 on the back nine. Through one round, she is in a tie for 18th place.
- Chloe Scofield delivered a strong round to begin the tournament, finishing the day in a tie for 29th with a 77. She made two birdies in the afternoon, scoring on holes 11 and 17. She carded nine pars as well.
- Addy Parker concluded the opening round T46 on the leaderboard, making a team-high 12 pars to turn in an overall score of 79. She made eight pars just on the back nine.
- Caitlyn Gaines opened the event with an 80 on the scorecard to finish T48. She made a birdie on the par-five 15th hole while adding seven pars as well.
- Maddie Peake birdied the par-four 11th hole en route to shooting an 81 to begin her tournament. She currently sits in a tie for 53rd going into the final round in Spartanburg.

The Blue Hose will play in the final round of the 36-hole event on Tuesday.
