CHARLOTTE, N.C. – For the first time in her accomplished career, senior twirler
Peyton Duncan of the Presbyterian College softball team has been selected as the Big South Pitcher of the Week. The announcement was made by league officials on Tuesday morning.
A highlight of PC's 2-2 start to the season, Duncan tossed 11 innings over the course of two games and registered a .191 ERA. She allowed only one hit in four frames during an eventual one-score victory over Le Moyne.
That was the 22
nd win of her Blue Hose career, beginning her second season as Presby's ace on a strong note.
PUSHING P
- Duncan retired her first 12 batters in the season-opener versus Le Moyne, exiting the game after 57 pitches to remain fresh for the next afternoon.
- In her second effort of the weekend against Dayton, she logged her first complete game of the year and the 21
st time that she pitched at least seven full innings.
- Against the Dolphins and the Flyers, the North Carolina native struck out seven combined. She walked just one in the Le Moyne win and had a heavy workload in the Dayton matchup by throwing 133 times.
- No one in the Big South had a lower ERA than Duncan all weekend. In 44 at-bats, opponents hit just .182 off of her.
PITCHER OF THE WEEK HISTORY
- This is the eighth time in the
David Williams administration that Presbyterian has won Big South Pitcher of the Week. The other seven occasions belong to Jenna Greene, who last won the award in March of 2024.
- With Duncan winning Pitcher of the Week for the first time, there are now 12 different PC players who have won a weekly award from the Big South since Williams took the head coaching job in 2019.
LOOKING AHEAD
- The Blue Hose have the luxury of ten straight home games to start the 2026 slate, meaning that they will host another tournament this coming weekend.
- PC is scheduled to play twice on Friday and Saturday, along with one more outing on Sunday. They'll face off with Mercyhurst and ETSU twice each, with an additional contest against UAlbany in the mix as well.
