PC Falls in High-Scoring Affair to Valparaiso

CLINTON, S.C. - The Presbyterian College baseball team (2-6) closed out the weekend at the PC Baseball Complex on Sunday afternoon (Feb. 22), suffering a 21-9 defeat to Valparaiso.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The offense started early for the Beacons, plating three to to start the game in the top of the first on two hits.

- In the bottom of the inning, Amman Dewberry answered for the Blue Hose, crushing his third home run of the season to tie the game up at three apiece.

- The Blue Hose carried the momentum into the top of the fourth, taking a 4-3 lead thanks to a single from Matthew Rollison.

- Both teams scored in the fourth inning. Valparaiso tied it at four before the first home run of the season from Caden Mason put PC back up 5-4.

- The momentum flipped in the fifth inning. In the top half of the fifth, the Beacons caught fire, scoring seven runs on five hits to go up 11-5. Emory Guilford hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the fifth to help PC inch close the gap, but the Blue Hose never got any closer.

- Valparaiso responded with three more runs in the sixth, three in the eighth, and four in the ninth to secure a high-scoring victory. Bo Moody had an RBI groundout for the Blue Hose in the eighth inning to plate PC's final run of the day.

 

 

NOTABLES 
- Matthew Rollison went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate against the Beacons. The four hits tie a career-high. He also had four hits against Western Carolina on April 15, 2025.

- Amman Dewberry hit his third home run of the year for the Blue Hose in the bottom of the first. He recorded three RBIs as well, his third game achieving that this season.

- Bo Moody logged the second multi-hit game of his career, going 2-for-4 at the plate.

- Caden Mason hit his first career home run in a PC uniform.

The Blue Hose will travel for a midweek road clash at No. 18/19 Clemson on Tuesday (Feb. 24) at 4:00 p.m. The game will air on ACCNX.
