CLEMSON, S.C. - The Presbyterian College baseball team (2-7) suffered a 6-2 defeat on Tuesday evening (Feb. 24) to No. 11 Clemson at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.
Clemson got out to an early lead, scoring four runs in the second inning. The lead was good enough to last, as the Blue Hose were held in check offensively for the first seven innings of the night. PC scored two runs in the final two innings of the game but fell 6-2. The Tigers had seven hits on the evening, while Presbyterian logged six.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Tucker Meredith opened the game throwing a scoreless first, but the Tigers got to him in the second. Clemson plated four in the second inning to take an early 4-0 lead over the Blue Hose.
- The Tigers continued their hot start in the fourth, tacking on two more runs to go ahead 6-0.
- Both pitching staffs took control of the game over the next several innings. Clemson would not score again in the game. Presbyterian finally got on the board in the eighth inning thanks to an RBI single from Amman Dewberry. James Green singled earlier in the inning and came around to score.
- The Blue Hose put up one more run in the ninth on a sacrifice fly from Cam Mallo. Jonathan Williams opened the inning with a double and scored the final run of the night for the Blue Hose.
NOTABLES
- Tucker Meredith made his first career start on the mound, pitching 1.1 innings.
- Presbyterian held the Tigers scoreless the final four innings of the game. Jeremiah Hampton, Eli Bowery, Mason McDaniel, Mikey Marroquin Jr., and Jonathan WIlliams combined to give up just two hits.
- Jonathan Williams made his first career pitching appearance for the Blue Hose in the ninth inning.
- Cam Mallo recorded his first RBI of the season.
- Brody Linker doubled down the left field line in the third inning, logging his first extra base hit of the season.
