CLINTON, S.C. – The Presbyterian College lacrosse team emerges from a 10-day slumber tomorrow night as the schedule shifts to Big South competition, entertaining Furman for a 7:00 start on ESPN+.
PC ended the non-conference slate on a positive note at Bailey Memorial Stadium, defeating Manhattan 13-12 after a game-winning goal by sophomore
Emily Currie with 23 seconds on the clock.
They'll hope to carry that momentum into Wednesday's league opener, aiming to beat the Paladins for the first time in program history.
Head coach
Eric Clakeley has his squad in a tie for third-place among the nine Big South institutions before conference play gets ramped up. Furman is also in the vicinity near the top of the pecking order, setting up a very intriguing clash under the lights.

SCOUTING THE PALADINS
- PC's in-state rivals saw immediate success in year one under head coach Gail Wallach last spring, sharing the Big South regular season championship with Mercer and High Point while setting a new team record for wins in a single year (14).
- The Paladins won seven of their eight conference contests last time around, including a major highlight in April as they ended Mercer's 24-game Big South winning streak by an 18-17 count in overtime.
- Furman was eventually ousted by High Point in the conference semifinals (18-14), but they have eyes on another regular season title in 2026 thanks to Shae Insinga and Lily Toole who make up half of the league's top four players in goals per game.
- Each of Furman's last four matches have been decided by three points or less, including a 21-20 marathon over UMass Lowell two weeks ago. PC and the Paladins will enter tomorrow's duel with a win over the same opponent in their most recent attempt, as FU downed Manhattan 15-12 in Greenville.
- The Dins have produced the second-most goals of anyone in the Big South (107), although they have not won a road game in a full month. Their last W away from home came at the expense of Queens, with tomorrow's event being just their second road trip of March.
LAST TIME OUT
- Currie was the star of the show in the victory over the Jaspers, ending with six makes (one off her career-high against Delaware State last season) and scoring all three of PC's goals in the final period.
- She and
Alyssa Perez combined for eight goals in the non-conference closer. Thanks to them, Presbyterian can say that they are the only team in the Big South with two players that have scored at least once in every game.
- The entire outing between PC and Manhattan was played within a two-point window, as the Blue Hose fought their way to a tie four times before finally breaking through in the clutch.
- Coach Clakeley's unit has put together a very balanced season so far on the offensive end, with second-year breakout
Kate Dominick leading the way on 29 total points (15 goals, 14 assists).
- Sophomore
Morgan Thompson has earned the last two victories at the keeper spot, coming off the bench against Manhattan and allowing just one goal in the final 11 minutes.
- After grabbing a game-high six ground balls and causing three turnovers, senior
Avery West was selected as the Big South Defensive Player of the Week for the second time in her career.
