MACON, Ga. – Still in the early stages of the Big South Conference schedule, the Presbyterian College lacrosse squad heads down to Georgia on Wednesday afternoon to meet the four-time defending league champion Mercer.
Opening draw in Macon is tabbed for 4:00 and will be streamed live on ESPN+, with the Blue Hose looking to recover from a defeat to Furman in last week's Big South curtain-jerker.
Presby will go head-to-head with a program that has achieved a whopping 57 victories over the past four years and hopes to shelve a seven-match losing streak to Mercer.
It'll be the second of eight Big South matchups for head coach
Eric Clakeley's crew and it will also mark the team's first road game in three full weeks.

SCOUTING MERCER
- Unanimously the most dominant program in the Big South under the direction of head coach Samantha Eustace (currently in year 11), the Bears have either shared or outright won the conference title four seasons in a row.
- Mercer had a 24-game league winning streak snapped by Furman in the penultimate game of the regular season last spring, but still managed to snatch the tournament title with a victory over High Point and receive the automatic bid to the NCAA's.
- The Bears are an astounding 32-2 against Big South opponents since the start of the 2022 campaign. They are the second school since the Big South started sponsoring women's lacrosse 13 years ago to win at least a share of the conference championship in four consecutive seasons.
- This semester, Mercer may seem to have taken a step back when viewing their record that is two games below .500. However, their non-conference strength of schedule is perhaps the toughest in the division, facing Virginia Tech, Vanderbilt, #9 Clemson, and #7 Florida.
- Two-and-a-half weeks ago, the Bears took down Arizona State by a 20-16 count, producing seven goals in the third period and ending with six makes from Caroline Glus who has already scored 30 times this semester.
- Mercer opened the Big South slate with a 10-6 triumph over High Point on the road, limiting HPU to just two goals by halftime as keeper Mackenzie Ward notched nine total saves.
LAST TIME OUT
- PC has also played just one conference contest at this stage of the season, dropping a 15-7 differential to Furman (one of two teams that tied with Mercer for the league crown last year).
- Senior
Alyssa Perez and sophomore
Emily Currie each hit the back of the net in the first Big South duel, giving them 46 connections this season.
- They are the only duo in the entire conference that have both found at least one goal in every match of the 2026 campaign.
- Two-time all-leaguer
Avery West saw her 100
th career caused turnover in the Furman feature, while keeper
Kayleigh Aitken registered her 200
th career save on the same night.
- West now ranks second in school history in the caused turnover category, trailing only Maura Talvacchia (2014-17). She leads the roster in both takeaways and ground balls (19 apiece).
