Blue Hose Drop Saturday Clash With App State

HICKORY, N.C. - The Presbyterian College baseball team (2-13) fell 13-3 on Saturday afternoon (March 7) to Appalachian State, suffering a defeat at the neutral site L.P. Frans Stadium.

 

The Mountaineers rushed out to a 6-0 lead in the second inning. PC got three back in the third, but App State closed the game with six more in the sixth and seventh to come away with a seven inning victory in Hickory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Blue Hose held the Mountaineers scoreless to start the game in the first, but the App State offense came alive in the second. The Mountaineers plated six runs on five hits to jump out to a 6-0 lead.

- The PC offense responded right back in the top of the third. Amman Dewberry doubled to right center, bringing in James Green and Andrew Albertus. Emory Guilford followed with an RBI single to help PC score three runs and close the gap to three.

- Appalachian State added an insurance run in the fourth, taking a 7-3 lead.

- The Mountaineers' bats stayed hot in the sixth, extending their lead to 10-3 behind three more hits.

- Shortly after, App State closed out the game in the seventh, plating three additional runs to secure a 13-3 victory over the Blue Hose in Hickory.

 

 

NOTABLES 
- Dewberry now has seven games with multiple RBIs and has hit five doubles this season.

- Caden Mason reached base in all three of his plate appearances, going 2-for-2 and logging a walk. He has reached base in five consecutive games.

- Christian Charalambous started on the mound for the Blue Hose, pitching 1.2 innings. 

- Tristan McGregor, Eli Bowery, and Brooks Chamberlin also appeared for the Blue Hose out of the bullpen. 

- James Green, Emory Guilford, and Andrew Albertus also logged hits for PC. Albertus has recorded a hit in four of Presbyterian's last five games.
