FARMVILLE, Va. - The Presbyterian College baseball team (9-32, 5-10 Big South) rallied from a five-run deficit for the second straight day but could not complete the comeback, as Longwood wrapped up the series with a 6-5 victory on Sunday afternoon (April 19) at Buddy Balding Stadium.

The Blue Hose exploded for five runs in the eighth inning to tie the game at five before the Lancers responded with the game-winning run in the bottom of the frame, claiming the series.Â

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Neither side surrendered a run in the first two innings of the ball game. Longwood struck first in the third inning, scoring the game's first run on a wild pitch. A sacrifice fly put the Lancers up 2-0.
- Longwood added to its lead in the bottom of the sixth, plating two more runs to grab a 4-0 advantage.
- The Lancers tallied another run in the seventh before the Blue Hose shifted the momentum in the eighth.
- James Green roped a triple down the right field line to get PC on the board, bringing around Cam Mallo and Jonathan Williams. Two batters later, Matthew Rollison hit another triple, scoring Green to get Presbyterian within two.
- With Rollison standing on third, Amman Dewberry smashed a two-run home run to center field to knot the game up at five apiece in the eighth inning.
- However, Longwood had the answer, plating a run on an RBI single in the bottom of the frame to retake the lead.
- The Lancers hung on in the ninth to take the series with a narrow 6-5 win.

- Amman Dewberry led the Blue Hose offense, going 2-for-4 with a two-run homer. He now leads the team with seven home runs on the year. He finished the series an impressive 6-for-12 at the plate.
- The Blue Hose hit two triples on Sunday afternoon. This is only the 13th time (first of this season) in the D1 era that PC has hit two triples in a contest.Â
- James Green posted two RBIs and his first triple in a PC uniform.
- Tristan McGregor made his tenth start of the season on the bump. He pitched five innings, allowing three earned runs while striking out five.
- Mason McDaniel followed McGregor in relief, tossing two innings.
- Landon Nichols and Eli Bowery appeared in the eighth inning, throwing a scoreless frame.
- All three games in Farmville this weekend were decided by one run.
