BLUE HOSE MOVE INTO TIE FOR FIRST PLACE IN THE SAC WITH 55-49 WIN OVER C-N

JEFFERSON CITY, TN. -- The Presbyterian Blue Hose moved into a three-way tie for first place in the South Atlantic Conference standings by avoiding an upset in SAC men's basketball action at Holt Fieldhouse Monday night. PC prevailed 55-49 by holding the Eagles to only two field goals in the final six minutes.

The Blue Hose (21-7, 9-3) trailed by as much as six in the second half before taking their first lead since the two-minute mark of the first half on junior Grant Herren's (Oviedo, Fla.) lay-up with 9:32 to play. The Eagles managed a couple of breakaway lay-ups to re-gain the lead, but the Blue Hose recovered quickly.

Sophomore Pat Kiscaden (Oviedo, Fla.) gunned a three-pointer with 4:39 to play to give Presbyterian the lead for god at 48-46. The Eagles only managed seven points in the final 8:42 of the ballgame.

Senior Johann Collins (Raleigh, N.C.) led the way for the Blue Hose with 14 points, while Kiscaden added 11 and Herren tallied 10.

Scott Williams led the way for Carson-Newman with nine points. The Eagles shot 19-of-50 (38 percent) from the floor, while the Blue Hose managed just 20-of-52 (38.5 percent).

Carson-Newman (9-15, 3-9) takes to the floor Wednesday at Mars Hill for an 8 p.m. tip-off before closing out the SAC slate at Wingate on Saturday. PC hosts Tusculum Wednesday night at 8 p.m.
