Presbyterian Inks Prolific High School Scorer Chaise Smith

CLINTON, S.C. – Presbyterian Blue Hose head men's basketball coach Quinton Ferrell announced the signing of Chaise Smith, a 6-foot-2 guard from Washington High School in Washington, North Carolina. Smith scored over 2,000 points in his stellar high school career.

"I'm really excited to announce the addition of Chaise Smith to our program," Ferrell said. "Chaise is a very talented point guard whose blend of skill and athleticism will allow him to be a great college point guard. Chaise can play-make at a high level for his teammates and score from all three levels.  Chaise has had a decorated high school career, setting multiple records, but he's also had a tremendous impact on his community and has been a leader on and off the court. I'm excited for Chaise to arrive on campus and get to work. We look forward to welcoming Chaise and his entire family into our Blue Hose family!"

Smith finished his career as Washington's all-time leading scorer with over 2,000 points while setting the school record for career assists with over 575. Smith broke Washington's career scoring mark set by NBA legend Dominique Wilkins.

This past season, Smith averaged 21.4 points, 8 assists, and 5.5 rebounds per game, helping lead Washington to the North Carolina State Tournament semifinals. For his play during his career, he was selected to play in the prestigious Carolinas Classic All-Star game as well as to North Carolina's East/West game.

During his standout high school career, Smith was named NCBCA All-State twice, Conference Player of the Year three times, a three-time All-District selection, and a four-time All-Conference honoree who earned District Player of the Year honors as a senior.

"Chaise is a hybrid athlete who can shoot, pass, and handle the ball really well," Washington coach Dave Allewalt said. "Chaise has great leadership qualities and is always in the gym working on a way to make his game better. He is a great teammate and a positive influence on everyone around him."
