CLINTON, S.C. ? Presbyterian College started the game off on season-high 14-0 run and the Blue Hose never looked back in a 52-35 victory over Army on Tuesday evening before a sold out crowd of 2,500 at the Templeton Center.
The Blue Hose improved to 2-19 on the year with the victory, while Army dropped back to .500 at 7-7 with the loss.
The crowd of 2,500 marked the first sell out in the history of the Templeton Center, which opened its doors in 1976.
The win over Army not only improved PC to a perfect 2-0 at home this season, but to 40-3 in its home arena since the start of the 2004-05 season.
PC, who snapped a season-long 11-game losing streak against Army, is now also in the midst of an nine-game home winning streak. The Blue Hose have not lost at home since falling to Lincoln Memorial 74-57 on Jan. 10, 2007.
The Blue Hose had two players in double figures in the game. Pat Kiscaden (Oviedo, Fla.) concluded the contest with game-high honors with 13 points, while Bryan Bostic (Norcross, Ga.) ended his night with 12 points.
Kiscaden hit three three-pointers and four free throws en route to the 13 points. He was a perfect 4-of-4 from the charity stripe.
Bostic was 4-of-5 from the charity stripe and 3-of-6 from the field.
Freshman guard Josh Johnson (Hendersonville, Tenn.) had his best game rebounding as a Blue Hose against the Black Knights, capturing a career-high 13 rebounds. Johnson just barely missed out on a double-double in the contest, finishing with nine points.
The Black Knights only had one player secure double figures in the loss to PC. Jarrell Brown had 10 points, but it was quite a downturn from the 26 points that he scored earlier this season in PC's 63-58 loss to Army in West Point on Nov. 24, 2007
PC opened the game by scoring the night's first 14 points to jump out to a 14-0 lead over the Black Knights before Army's Kenny Brewer hit a jumper with 14:46 left in the first half to stop the Blue Hose game-opening run. The 14-0 run marked the longest run of the year for PC.
The Blue Hose would pretty much control the rest of the first half, but Army was able to get as close as five points with 2:42 left in the first half when Chris Walker hit a jumper for the Black Knights.
It would prove to be as close as Army would get in the contest because PC held Army without a field goal for the next 11 and half minutes. PC only gave up three free throws during the stretch.
In the end, Army would never close the margin to under 10 points as PC ended the game with its largest lead of the year at 17 points in the 52-35 victory.
The Blue Hose conclude their four games in five days and six games in 11 days stretch next with a game against future Big South Conference opponent Winthrop at the Winthrop Coliseum at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 9.
