Bostic Sets New Career High at Georgia

ATHENS, Ga.?Bryan Bostic set a new career high with 22 points and led the Presbyterian College men's basketball team in their 55-47 loss to Georgia at Stegeman Coliseum on Nov. 21.

Bostic (Norcross, Ga./Norcross) recorded 22 points, replacing his previous single-game career high of 21 points that also came against the Georgia Bulldogs last season.  The senior forward was 8 for 12 in field goal shooting, and three for eight from beyond the arc.  He also was a perfect 3-3 at the free throw line.

PC (0-3) played a tough second half and trailed by only six points with under eight minutes left in the game after a jumper by Bostic, and a three pointer from Josh Johnson (Hendersonville, Tenn./Hendersonville) cut Georgia's lead to 49-44 at the 7:34 mark.  PC, however, was unable to come any closer as the Bulldogs extended their advantage to eight points on their way to a 55-47 victory over the Blue Hose.

Along with Bostic's 22 points, sophomore Al'Lonzo Coleman (Charlotte, N.C./Vance) chipped in eight points and six rebounds while Johnson hit two of four attempted three pointers.  PC had a 37.8 field goal percentage on the game, making 17 of 45 attempts.  The Blue Hose tied the Bulldogs in rebounding, with each team collecting 31 boards in the game.

PC went into halftime behind by only seven points, after being down by as much as eleven with seven minutes left in the first half.  Georgia had held PC scoreless for over five minutes before a three pointer by Johnson put the Blue Hose back on track and down 22-14.

The Bulldogs added three points with four minutes left in the first half, but PC answered with a three pointer from Pierre Miller (Warner Robbins, Ga./Warner Robbins) at the 3:24 mark to keep Georgia's lead to only eight points.

Bostic added another three pointer to cut the Bulldog's advantage to five points, and with under two minutes left in the first half PC trailed 25-20.  The Bulldogs added a field goal in the waning minutes to send the teams to the lockers rooms with Georgia leading 27-20 at the end of the first half.

The Blue Hose went on a 6-0 run to start the second half to cut Georgia's lead to only one point.  After a three pointer from Johnson in the opening minute, and another by Bostic two minutes in, PC trailed 27-26 with 17:55 left in the game.

A pair of free throws by Bostic at the seventeen minute mark gave PC its first lead of the second half at 30-28.  The teams would trade baskets over the next three minutes, but the Blue Hose outscored the Bulldogs 16-9 in the first eight minutes of the second half.

Georgia, however, answered with a eight point run to regain the lead with ten minutes left in the game.  The Bulldogs held a 44-36 lead, but PC fought back with a field goal from Coleman and a jumper from Bostic to bring the score to 47-41 with under eight minutes left.  Johnson's three pointer cut the lead to five points, but Georgia would hold on for the 55-47 win.

PC returns home on Monday, Nov. 24 to host San Jose State at 8 p.m.  The Blue Hose will play the second game of a doubleheader, with the PC women's basketball team opening the night's action at 6 p.m. against Colgate.  The doubleheader is part of the NCAA's “Pack the House” challenge, a nationwide event to help raise attendance at athletic events, and the first 1,000 fans will receive a free t-shirt.
