CLINTON, S.C. ? The Presbyterian College men's tennis team was unable to overcome the Wofford Terriers Friday afternoon, falling by a 7-0 score in a match that was originally scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.
The Blue Hose fall to 1-4 on the season while the Terriers improve to 2-5.
PC lost the doubles point as all three tandems were unable to pull out a victory.
Matthew Martin and
Zachary Sprouse fell by an 8-2 count at the top spot while
Patrick Fediuk and
Andrew Lee were defeated by a tough 8-5 score. At the third position,
Michael Nicol and
Brad Luciuk dropped an 8-1 decision.
Two singles matches went three sets for PC, but all three came up with the visitors winning. Nicol lost a 6-2, 2-6, 0-6 match at the No. 2 position to Danny Manlow. Rookie
Zachary Sprouse, who has played well during his young collegiate career, was defeated 7-6, 1-6, 6-10.
Martin pushed Scott Collins at the No. 1 spot in the first set, falling 7-6. In the second, Collins was able to get the best of him, winning 6-2.
Fediuk lost to Stuart Robertson at the No. 3 seed, 6-1, 6-3. Paul Bartholomy downed Lee 6-2, 6-4 while
Mark Cannatelli fell 6-0, 6-2 at the No. 6 position.
The Blue Hose return to action Monday when they play host to South Carolina State. PC was originally scheduled to play UNC Charlotte tomorrow, but the match was canceled due to impending bad weather.
