TEMPE, Ariz. The Presbyterian College Blue Hose men's tennis team earned national academic recognition from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) for its outstanding work in the classroom during the 2025-26 academic year. Presbyterian was one of 162 NCAA Division I programs to receive the ITA Team Academic Award, while
Thomas Anderson,
David Mamalat, and
Dario Navarro were individually recognized as ITA Scholar-Athletes.
TEAM ACADEMIC SUCCESS
The criteria for the team award include having a team grade point average of 3.2 or higher for the current academic year.
For the seventh straight season and the 14th time in the program's history, the Blue Hose earned the team academic award. Presbyterian posted a team GPA of 3.38 for the 2025-26 academic year.
ITA SCHOLAR-ATHLETE
Individuals must have had at least a 3.5 GPA for the current academic year to be named ITA Scholar-Athlete. This year, 1,008 Division I men's tennis players were named an ITA Scholar-Athlete.
THOMAS ANDERSON
This past season, he saw action in 17 doubles matches teaming with several different partners. He recorded seven doubles wins on court three, teaming with
Eduardo Valentin. The Chesapeake, Virginia native, who has not declared a major, has a 3.90 cumulative GPA.
DAVID MAMALAT
This past season, Mamalat was named First Team All-Big South Singles. He teamed with
Matija Samardzic to capture the Big South Doubles title and earn First Team All-Big South Doubles honors. The Philadelphia, Pennsylvania native was also named to the Big South All-Academic team. Mamalat, who graduated from PC this past May, finished his academic career at PC with a 3.40 GPA while earning a degree in Business Administration.
DARIO NAVARRO
This past season, Mamalat was named Big South Freshman of the Week on February 25. He saw action in 17 singles matches while capturing seven wins, including a victory at number six singles, clinching Presbyterian's Big South Tournament Quarterfinals win over UNC Asheville. He also played in 21 doubles matches with a variety of partners. The Salzburg, Austria native, who has declared a major, has a 3.67 cumulative GPA.
