Presbyterian College men's tennis team put forth a solid effort Sunday
afternoon but fell by a 6-1 score to Coastal Carolina in a Big South Conference
match.

Hose fall to 4-10 on the year and 1-3 in conference play.

Third-seeded
Patrick Fediuk was the only student-athlete to pull off a victory for head
coach Patric Hynes' team. Fediuk easily handled Dmitry Vlaskin by scores of
6-2, 6-4.
No. 1 seed Matthew Martin lost a 7-5 heartbreaker in the first set before
rebounding to take set two by a 6-1 score against Ernesto Ramos. However, he
was unable to pull off the third set, falling 10-6.

At the No.
2 slot, Michael Nicol fell in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3, to German Perez.
Freshman Zachary Sprouse dropped a hard fought decision to Plamen Tzvetkov 6-4,
6-0, at No. 4.

Fifth-seeded
Andrew Lee dropped his match to Dorian Sovic 7-5, 6-3. After losing the first
set at No. 6 by a 6-1 score, Mark Cannatelli pushed Joseph Withers to the brink
in the second set before falling 7-5.

PC nearly
captured the doubles point to start the match, but lost two close matches. At
No. 2, Fediuk and Nicol pushed Tzvetkov and Vlaskin to extra points before
succumbing 9-8.

Third-seeded
Brad Luciuk and Lee fell 8-5 to Withers and John Hairston. At the top spot,
Srpouse and Martin were unable to defeat Perez and Ramos, losing 8-3.

Hose return to action Tuesday afternoon when they play host to USC Upstate in a
match that was postponed last week. The match begins at 3 p.m.
