SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Presbyterian College men's tennis team played well
recently at Wofford's fall tournament.
"Coming here, we were looking to get a lot of quality matches and we definitely
did that," director of tennis operations Patric Hynes said. "We went 10-2 in
doubles which was pleasing, even though there are areas we need to improve in.
we are 16-2 in doubles play the last two tournaments we have competed in."
Against Lenoir-Rhyne, PC swept every match. Andrew Brigham and Grayson Mills
recorded an 8-3 victory at the top doubles spot. Gonzalo Asis and Zachary
Sprouse posted an identical 8-3 victory at the No. 2 spot. Ryan Walters and
Kenneth Mooney notched an 8-3 win at No. 3.
In singles play, Brigham easily defeated his counterpart at No. 1 by a 6-1, 6-1
count. Asis won at No. 2, 6-1, 6-3. Mooney was pushed in the first set, but was
victorious 7-5, 6-0. Sprouse was a 6-0, 6-2 winner at No. 4. Nathan Crocker won
the first set 7-6 but fell 6-4 in the second. However, he rebounded to win 10-8

for the Blue Hose.
Against the Terriers, Edward Snead IV and Mooney posted an 8-4 win at the No. 2

The Blue Hose returned to top form against nearby Furman. PC swept the doubles
matches and won two singles contests.
Brigham and Mills won 8-5 at the top spot while Asis and Sprouse won by the
same margin at No. 2. Mooney and Snead teamed up for an 8-2 victory at the No.
3 slot.
Playing at the No. 1 position in singles play, Brigham won a three-set
thriller. After losing 7-5 in the first set, he won the next two 7-6, 10-8.
Mooney posted a 7-6, 6-4 win at No. 3.
"Our singles play was solid," Hynes said. "I'm seeing a big improvement from
our first tournament, especially with our freshmen. Nathan Crocker won some
clutch matches for us and Kenneth Mooney's win against Furman was a good
result. Overall, it was a positive weekend for the team."

three-day tournament.
