CLINTON, S.C. -
The Presbyterian College men's tennis team grabbed its fourth shutout of the
season against Spartanburg Methodist, winning 5-0 in a shortened contest. This
is the squad's second shutout of the season at home.
The Blue Hose now stand at 6-16 on the year.
PC's Andrew Brigham and Ryan Walters opened up doubles play this afternoon with
a sound 8-1 victory over SMU's Austin McAlister and Troy Lanford as the top
seed. PC's Ivan Ho and James Zaher followed suit with an 8-1 win over SMU's
Pedro Cruz and Matt Kennemer at the No. 2 position.
PC's men's singles competitors won all of their matches as
well. At the No. 1 spot, Brigham played Lanford and won 6-3 in the first set.
He was then able to hold Lanford scoreless in the second set.
Ho didn't give up a single set as he beat Austin McAlister 6-0, 6-0 at the No.
2 slot. Zaher faced Pedro Cruz and won the first set 6-4. He improved his play
in the second set and won 6-0 as the No. 3 seed.
Ryan Walters finished things up by posting a 6-2, 6-0 win over Matt Kennmer at
the No. 4 position.
The Blue Hose will look to keep today's winning streak alive
as they face Coastal Carolina tomorrow in Conway, S.C. beginning at 1 p.m.
