CLINTON, S.C. – Presbyterian College women's lacrosse defender Maura Talvacchia was named to the second team All-Big South squad, as the league announced its annual awards on Wednesday. In addition, Katy Richardson earned a spot on the All-Academic team.
Talvacchia earned second team All-Conference honors for the third straight season. The junior finished the regular season as the nation's leader in caused turnovers with 3.88 per game. She also ranked second in the country in ground balls with 3.71 per game. On the year, the native of Moorestown, N.J. totaled 63 ground balls and 66 caused turnovers, both single-season records for PC.
Richardson was named to the All-Academic team for the first time in her career with a 3.69 grade point average as a psychology major. She totaled 17 goals and eight assists for 25 points this season. The senior from Lake Worth, Fla. earned Big South Honorable Mention honors last season, after totaling 39 goals and 12 assists on the year.
The Blue Hose open play in the Big South Championship at top-seeded Winthrop on Saturday at 7 p.m.
