Purcell Signs Seven for Fall of 2020

Presbyterian College and head women's soccer coach Brian Purcell announced the signing of Mackenzie Azuero (Aurora, Colo.), Reyna Coston (Maryville, Tenn.), Kendra Davis (Lilburn, Ga.), Payton Gulley (Snellville, Ga.), Caitlin Murphy (Blythewood, S.C.), Mia Prieto (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) and Kali Zmistowski (Braselton, Ga.)  to join the Blue Hose in the fall of 2020.

"We are happy to have seven student-athletes of this caliber joining our team for next season," said Purcell. "They are standouts on the field, in the classroom and around their communities. Along with making the program better, they will represent the College well and help our team continue to grow and compete within the Big South."

Mackenzie Azuero - 6-0 -Goalkeeper - Aurora, Colo. - Grandview HS / Colorado Rush

Club: Played for the U.S. Development Academy's Colorado Rush from 2017-20 ... 2018 Real Cup Platinum Division Champions ... Allowed 0.6 goals against average for the tournament ... Volunteer goalkeeper coach with the Colorado Rush ... Member of the Olympic Development Program 2014-17 ... Played with the Colorado Storm in the ECNL from 2016-17.

Personal: Christina Mackenzie Azuero is the daughter of Amy and James Azuero ... Intends to major in Biochemistry and one day become a veterinarian ... Chose PC because "It is everything I was looking for in a school. I knew it the minute I stepped on campus."

Reyna Coston - 5-7 - Midfielder/Forward - Maryville, Tenn. - Maryville HS / FC Alliance

High School: Played at Maryville HS ... Set a program record with 93 career goals with 30 coming her senior season ... Earned All-State, All-District and All-Region honors ... Member of the prom committee ... Netted 27 goals her freshman year ... Scored four first half goals to go with an assist in a 9-0 win over Lenoir City her junior year.

Club: Played for FC Alliance.

Personal: Reyna Marie Coston is the daughter of Leah and Jake Coston ... Chose PC for "the family feel on campus."

Kendra Davis - 5-3 - Forward - Lilburn, Ga. - Parkview HS / GSA

High School: Played at Parkview HS ... Scored 28 goals during her junior season after recording 22 her sophomore season and 10 her freshman year ... Two-time All-State selection ... All-County her freshman year ... Scored a pair of goals 16 seconds apart in a 5-1 win over Mill Creek in the first round of the Class 7A girls soccer playoffs.

Club: Gwinnett Soccer Academy U18/19 ECNL ... Team went 13-2-2.

Personal: Kendra Lashay Davis is the daughter of Letha and Hilbert Davis ... Intends to major in biology or chemistry and to one day be a pharmaceutical engineer ... Chose PC because, "I like that it is a smaller school and that I will get more one-on-one learning."

High School: Played at Greater Atlanta Christian School ... All-Region 1st Team selection ... Gwinnett County All-Academic Team member ... Also ran cross country ... All-A honor student ... Earned 3rd place in an All-State writing competition.

Club: Played for Atlanta Fire ECNL ... Placed 3rd at ECNL Nationals ... GA State Cup champions ... Two-time GA 3AAA semifinalist.

High School: Team captain at Cardinal Newman ... Recorded 39 goals and 42 assists ... Three-time All-State SCISA ... Three-time SCISA Region 1-AAA Women's Soccer Player of the Year ... Member of back-to-back state championship teams ... Her freshman year, was named the SCISA State AAA Women's Soccer Player of the Year as well as the High School Sports Report Independent Schools AAA Women's Soccer Player of the Year (9th grade) ... Senior Class Secretary as well as Student Body Secretary ... Earned the Cardinal Newman Character Award and was on the Bishop's Honor Roll all four years ... Received the Yale Book Award as well as recognized for Outstanding Achievement in Digital Business Applications and Calculus Honors.

Club: Played with South Carolina United U18/U19 Girls in the ECNL ... Selected to represent SCUFC U16s in the Professional Development Program (PDP) Training ... Member of the SCUFC U16 Elite Team.

High School: Played at City of Pembroke Pines Charter HS ... Scored five goals her sophomore season ... Honor student taking AICE and AP classes.

Club: Played for Weston FC of the Development Player League ... Made 19 starts and 22 appearances for the U16/17 team and scored three goals ... Has four starts and six appearances for the U18/19 team.

Personal: Mia Kristina Prieto is the daughter of Tony and Maileen Prieto ... Intends to major in biology ... Chose PC because, "It feels like home to me. The players, coaches and other students treat me with respect. I am absolutely in love with PC" ... Brother Anthony Gomez was drafted by the MLB's Washington Nationals after playing college baseball at UTRGV.
