Gallegos Leads Six Blue Hose to Nationals

Franklin Springs, Ga. – Jaslynn Gallegos led the Blue Hose as she was one of six wrestlers to qualify for the Women's National Collegiate Championship after winning her weight class on Sunday afternoon at the NCWWC Southeast Regionals hosted by Emmanuel College. Gallegos will be joined at Nationals by Samantha Miller, Cassandra Lopez, Morgan Norris, Jorie Richardson and Lillian Humphries as the six of them all finished in the top four in their respective weight classes.

NOTABLES
- In the 116 pound bracket, Gallegos earned a 2:41 pinfall victory in the semifinals before a 10-0 technical fall win in the finals pushed her on to nationals.
- Lopez who was competing in the 109 weight class, earned a tight 9-7 decision in her second matchup of the season with Katerina Pendergrass from Ferrum. She was on the wrong end of a 6-0 decision in the finals but was still able to qualify for nationals.
- Morgan Norris got out to a fast start with a 41 second pinfall victory in her quarterfinal matchup. In the semis, she suffered a 10-0 technical fall defeat before bouncing back with back-to-back 10-0 technical fall wins to place third in the 143 pound bracket.
- In the 136 pound weight class, PC had a pair of top four finishes as Jorie Richardson earned a 6-2 victory over teammate Lillian Humphries to place third while Humphries finished fourth in the weight class.
- Samantha Miller in the semifinals came up just short in her matchup suffering a 9-6 defeat but was able to place third in the 101 pound bracket and qualify for nationals.
- Haven Pennington, Airam Trevino and Isabella Badon also competed for the Blue Hose on Sunday afternoon.
