FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – Fitting for a program that continues to shatter school records, the sixth-ranked Presbyterian College women's wrestling team turned in an incredible showing at Saturday's Southeast Regional Tournament, qualifying 14 for Nationals en route to their first-ever Regional team championship.

PC toppled rival King to take home their first postseason title, as four wrestlers won 1st place while five others claimed silver prizes.

The Blue Hose collected 40 individual wins in a bracket that encapsulated 14 different schools, sending Carina Giangeruso (138), May Cuyler (160), Henlee Haynes (180), and Ella Beam (207) to Nationals with a 1^st-place Regional trophy.

A mainstay in the national top ten over the past three seasons, head coach Brian Vutianitis guides PC to their best-ever Regional performance where they now have a chance to break even more records in the season's final event next month.

Five Blue Hose wrestlers earned silver medals as the team made an imprint on practically every weight class. Presbyterian has now obtained an incredible 30 championships in tournament play since the campaign started in November.

PC will enter the National Tournament in Iowa as one of the favorites to take home the grand prize, having placed in the countrywide top ten each of the last two years and now bringing their largest batch in school history to the final stage.


 
NOTABLES
 
- Giangeruso and Cuyler have formulated perhaps the nation's best freshman 1-2 punch, each winning the gold at Emmanuel and entering Nationals with a combined record of 51-5.

- Cuyler was virtually unchallenged on her way to yet another 1^st-place honor, gaining a 76-second pin in the 160-lb. semi's and a 10-0 technical to snatch the Regional title.

- Meanwhile, the setup for the 138-lb. championship was between two PC wrestlers against each other, as Giangeruso edged out Paige Wehrmeister in a 3-1 tally for the crown.

- Beam's final season in a Blue Hose singlet has taken a turn for the storybook, winning by 5-0 decision to advance to Iowa and end her senior run at the top of the mountain.

- Awarded second place at this exact tournament last February, Haynes one-upped her efforts from that day and took home the gold. This comes after an 8^th-place national finish by the Panama City native in 2024.

- Despite taking a loss to King in the 110-lb. championship, rookie Chloe Dearwester continues a debut year of extreme upside thanks to a personal record of 21-2.

- Sophomores Maddie Kubicki (145) and Cassia Zammit (131) both got runner-up accolades after coming in the nationwide top five 12 months ago, while 124-pounder Alyssa Mahan did the same as she bettered her Regional showing from last year by claiming 2^nd.

- Chiara Barbieri, Kascidy Garren, and Maria Aiono were other podium-placers for Coach V's gang on Saturday, solidifying Presbyterian's place among the elite women's wrestling programs in America.
