MANHEIM, Pa. – One week after setting a program record by finishing in 5
th place at the inaugural NCAA-sponsored National Championship tournament, the Presbyterian College women's wrestling team can now claim that they are the NCAA leaders on the academic side.
The National Wrestling Coaches Association has announced the full list of NCAA Scholar All-American winners, and there is no school in the country that can top PC's 20 selections.
92 different institutions were named to have at least one NCAA Scholar All-American (540 total student-athletes). The Blue Hose are at the top of that list, with over 70 percent of their entire roster making the cut.
Presbyterian captured the NCAA Southeast Region title for the second consecutive season, while head coach
Brian Vutianitis was voted as the Region Coach of the Year in back-to-back campaigns.
Four PC wrestlers won a region championship (
Chloe Dearwester,
Maddie Kubicki,
Isabella Gretzinger, and
Maria Aiono), while the Blue Hose were one of just four schools to qualify all 10 weight classes to Nationals.
The Blue Hose took home six All-America honors for the second year in a row, led by Kubicki's team-best 4
th-place standing to become a three-time All-American.
All 20 PC wrestlers who were named Scholar All-America are listed below in alphabetical order, along with their college major.
