SPOKANE, Wash. – Last weekend, the Presbyterian College women's wrestling team accomplished another momentous feat following their program-record 5
th-place standing at the inaugural NCAA Championships. PC sent 10 wrestlers to the World Team Trials on the west coast, resulting in six podium finishes.
Two-time All-American
May Cuyler (who sports a 49-10 record halfway through her college career) placed second in the U20 group, meaning that she will represent the USA at the Pan American Championships in Rio de Janeiro this summer.
True freshmen
Zoe Griffith and
Kaylie Hall placed 3
rd and 4
th respectively in the U20 class, while three-time All-American
Maddie Kubicki led the way in the U23 division with a 4
th-place nod.
NCAA Region Rookie of the Year
Jenna Anderson came in 5
th in the U23 grouping, while
Isabella Gretzinger rounded out the list with an 8
th-place posting.
Sloane Kruger,
Annalise Maralit,
Charlee Shuler, and
Kassey Daugherty also represented the Blue Hose at the World Team Trials.
Cuyler's silver medal in U20 is the first time that a Presbyterian wrestler has qualified to compete for Team USA in the Pan-American Championships. Kubicki also achieved this honor as she was exiting the high school ranks, just prior to officially arriving on campus.
