BURLINGTON, N.C. – Freshman Mariana Polakova led the Blue Hose on Monday with a two-over 73 and three-over 74 as the Presbyterian College women's golf team is seventh following the first two rounds of the Elon Invitational. Elon posted a pair of 285's (+2) to take a 15-shot lead to the final 18 holes of the tournament shooting a two-round total of 570. Nicole Lu of UNCG holds a two-shot lead in the individual championship sitting at 139 (-3) after 36 holes.
Notables
- Polakova began her tournament with three birdies in her opening eight holes to make the turn at -1. She posted a three-over-par coming in to finish with a collegiate-best 73 in her opening round of the event. In round two, she posted her lone birdie on the par-4 13th hole along with 13 pars en route to a +5 for the tournament. The Brno, Czech Republic native sits in a tie for 10th in the individual championship with a 147.
- Sophomore Sarah Boteler opened the day with a 79 dropping her lone birdie of the round on the final hole of the opening round the par-4 ninth. She lowered her score in round two by nine shots to post a one-under 70 highlighted by three birdies coming in over her final six holes. She sits in a tie for 15th after Monday's action with a 149.
- Lextyn Petz posted an opening round 81 with 11 pars, then dropped five shots in round two to record a 76. In round two, she had a birdie on the par-5 17th hole and also posted a 36 (+1) on her second nine on Monday afternoon. Petz heads into the final round with a score of 157 in a tie for 43rd.
- Freshman Taylor Reaves carded a first round of 80 with a birdie to her scorecard. Similar to Petz and Boteler, Reaves lowered her score in the afternoon with three birdies en route to posting a 78. She heads into Tuesday's final round in a tie for 47th place at 158.
- Sofia Carles registered an 82 in the first round, then dropped a pair of shots in the afternoon to post an 80. Carles tallied two birdies in her second round and sits in a tie for 51st place at 162 after Monday's action.
