MORGANTON, N.C. – The Presbyterian College women's golf team returned to action on Monday (March 30), competing in the first two rounds of the Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate, hosted by Appalachian State at Mimosa Hills Golf & CC.
Maddie Peake leads the team through 36 holes, shooting rounds of 81 and 82 to sit in a tie for 45th. As a team, Presbyterian rests in 11th place on the leaderboard with a score of 662.
NOTABLES
- Maddie Peake carded three birdies on day one of the tournament, finishing tied for 45th. Her three birdies were tied for the most on the team. She had great success on the par-3 13th hole, making birdie in both rounds.
- Addy Parker finished one shot behind Peake on the day to sit in 49th place. She turned in rounds of 79 and 85. Her 79 in the first round to open the tournament was PC's lowest of the day and included two birdies. She finished day one with three birdies, tying Peake for the most through 36 holes.
- Gabi Carles made her spring debut on Monday, appearing in her first tournament since the Fripp Island Intercollegiate (held Nov. 1-3). She carded an 86 in the opening round before following it up with the lowest round of her collegiate career. In round two, she posted a birdie and seven pars to turn in an 80, besting her previous career low by three shots.
- Taylor Reaves shot rounds of 84 and 85 to end the day in a tie for 53rd. She made 10 pars in her first round and finished the day with 12 pars in the afternoon. Emma Louise Hunt rounded out day one for the Blue Hose, turning in a total score of 182 for the day.
