Women’s Wrestling Alters Weekend Plans, Set to Host Huntingdon on Saturday

CLINTON, S.C. – Originally scheduled to be hitting the road this weekend for a series of duals in the Dixie State, the Presbyterian College women's wrestling team will instead be playing host to their Montgomery visitors, the Huntingdon Hawks. The two will clash in a one-off matchup this Saturday at 4:00 PM from Templeton.

Now on their home base for the second occasions in an eight-day window, the Blue Hose will aim for their fourth victory in a traditional head-to-head format after dominating both Bluefield State and Allen in their last affairs.

In both meetings last Friday against those clubs, Presbyterian assumed an early edge and kept building to make it larger. They'd grab two swift W's by an added margin of 68 points, defeating the Big Blue 43-5 and the Yellow Jackets 38-8.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT

- Huntingdon presents a bit of an anomaly for head coach Brian Vutianitis' squad, facing a foe that hasn't yet performed in a dual setting to this point on the calendar. In fact, the Hawks' only entry this season came nearly a month ago at the "Eagle Madness" tournament (hosted by Life University) 27 days ago.

- At the event, eight different grapplers hit the mats – with only classes 101 and 191 absent – presenting a first-time-ever mix that offers plenty of intrigue.

- The Hawks will again be in the same vicinity as the Blue Hose in one week's time, as they'll both be submitting their names to the Wasp Open at Emory & Henry on December 15, the same tourney where PC grabbed a stunning six top-three placements in 2022.

LAST TIME OUT

- It was a one-sided three-way seven days back when Presby steamrolled Bluefield State and Allen, winning 17 out of their 20 contests (85 percent) while gaining four pins and four other victories by technical fall.

- Further validifying their # 13 ranking from the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA), coach V's unit enjoyed a streak of seven straight W's in the early portion of the night while going on to post another eight-match streak moments later.

- In total, 11 different wrestlers picked up a win over an opponent that fell victim to attrition. The Blue Hose have accumulated 65 team victories since November as a group that finished ninth in the nation last spring, winning 46 times on the semester by either fall of TF.
