Blue Hose Post Season-Best in Final Round in Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, FLA. – The Presbyterian College women's golf team posted a season-best 296 to finish in 11th place on Tuesday at the Sea Best Intercollegiate. The Blue Hose were led by freshman Alina Shchepteva who recorded an even par round of 72. The two-day, 54-hole tournament was hosted by Jacksonville on the par-72, 6,084-yard San Jose Country Club in Jacksonville, Fla….

Campbell secured the team title with a 289 on Tuesday to win the team championship by three shots over FIU. Praew Nontarux of USC Upstate & Isabella Hahne of Campbell both finished with a score of 215 (-1) to share the individual title of the Sea Best Intercollegiate. 

FINAL ROUND RESULTS
- Shchepteva finished her tournament on Tuesday with an even par (72), highlighted by an eagle and a pair of birdies. She also tallied 12 pars in the final round. 
- The Blue Hose freshman got her birdies on Tuesday's second and sixth holes, with an eagle on the 14th. Shchepteva finished in a tie for 26th with a score of 227.
- Sofia Carles finished the event with a career-low of 74, highlighted by a birdie on the ninth hole on Tuesday. She also tallied 14 pars en route to a tie for 32nd with a score of 229 for the tournament. 
- Sophomore Sarah Boteler recorded a final round of 75, highlighted by a birdie on the third hole. Boteler poured in 13 pars en route to a tie for 12th place finish with a score of 224. 
- Mariana Polakova finished the event with a 75. She added a birdie on the first & 10th holes, along with 11 pars, to finish in a tie for 63rd with a score of 239.
- Lextyn Petz finished her final round with an 83 on Tuesday. She added three birdies to her scorecard. Petz finished in a tie for 71st with a score of 245. 

NOTABLES
- With Shchepteva's eagle on Tuesday, PC was one of four schools to record at least one eagle throughout the event. The Blue Hose joined Jacksonville, Houston Christian, and USC Upstate as the only other schools to tally an eagle.
- Boteler finished fourth in the field in pars with 39 pars throughout the event. 
- The 296 score on Tuesday is the lowest score by the Blue Hose throughout the 2022-23 season. 
- The final round score also marks the lowest in a round since the final round of the Golfweek Program Championship in Sept. 2018, when PC also tallied 296.
