Blue Hose Vault Into Top Five in Final Round of Low Country Intercollegiate

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – Behind sophomore Sarah Boteler's 72 and freshman Alina Shchepteva's 76 the Presbyterian College women's golf team made a big charge up the leaderboard on Sunday to finish in a tie for fourth at the Low Country Intercollegiate. The tournament was consolidated to 36 holes on after unplayable course conditions forced the postponement of Saturday's second round.

Quinnipiac earned the team title on Sunday with a one-shot win over first round leader UNC Asheville. Madyson Gold of UNC Asheville earned the individual crown on Sunday with a two-shot victory posting a final round of 75.

FINAL ROUND RESULTS
- Boteler posted a final round score of 72 on Sunday as she tallied a pair of birdies to go along with 14 pars on her card. She vaulted up to a tie for 23rd following her even-par score on Sunday as she finished with a score of 159.
- Shchepteva finished with a score of 76 highlighted by a birdie along with 13 pars on the day. The Blue Hose freshman finished strong in the event with nine pars over her final 11 holes including eight in a row on her back nine. She was able to jump 11 spots into a tie for 13th with a team-best score of 156.
- Freshman Mariana Polakova posted a final round score of 78 highlighted by eight straight pars to close out the tournament. Polakova finished in a tie for 27th with a total score of 160.
- Sofia Carles improved from Friday's first round with a final round of 80 as she was able to record 10 pars including on her final four holes. She finished in a tie for 46th with her cumulative score of 163.
- Taylor Reaves rounded it out for the Blue Hose on Sunday with a score of 86 as she picked up a birdie on the ninth hole. The freshman finished in a tie for 70th with a score of 168 over her 36 holes of action.

NOTABLES
- Shchepteva finished tied for seventh with 22 pars on the weekend to lead the Blue Hose. Polakova finished one behind her teammate with 21 pars in the event.
- Sunday's top five finish marks the second straight top five for PC as they earned the tournament title last time out at the Bright's Creek Intercollegiate.

UP NEXT
- The Blue Hose close out the regular season with the Mimosa Hills Intercollegiate hosted by Appalachian State set to begin on Monday April 3 at the Mimosa Hills Golf Club.
