BRISTOL, Tenn. – Another frantic weekend is on tap for the Presbyterian College women's wrestling squad, emerging from the NWCA National Duals with three top-ten victories just six days ago only to face another foe of the same variety on Saturday at 3:00 PM.
The 11
th-ranked Blue Hose will go head-to-head with the top dog in the Southeast Region, the King Tornado, who currently rides the # 3 ranking among all NCAA programs in the nation. From there, PC will quickly hit the road once more for another turbulent affair on Sunday versus Campbellsville in Kentucky, the 7
th-ranked NAIA unit in the country.
Continuing their case for the most difficult schedule in America, Presbyterian will clash with a top-twenty opponent for the ninth time since November when they lock horns with a King adversary who has remained step-for-step with them in the grind for Southeast Region dominance.
Head coach
Brian Vutianitis' club will be going up against a couple of nemeses that boast a combined win count of 14 in dual meetings, both of which will occur in a hostile environment. However, Presby has undoubtedly carved a sturdy sense of resilience due to their extremely-challenging trek to this point (holding seven wins of their own to prove it).

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
- Neither of PC's counterparts have many flaws, exemplified by their respective top-ten placements in their governing body's national poll. King will host the Blue Hose with a bit of a sour taste in their mouths, competing alongside Presby at the NWCA National Duals in Iowa last weekend, but dropping two in a row to # 2 Iowa and # 4 McKendree for a swift elimination.
- Despite that rough conclusion, the Tornado still posted a 4
th-place finish at the 15-team bracket behind a 28-point victory over Aurora and a 20-point blowout over 6
th-ranked Sacred Heart that preceded the two setbacks.
- In a dual setting, King opened the campaign with six consecutive W's (all of which came in dominant form). The Tennesseeans accomplished their first four triumphs by a combined difference of 185-10, averaging 35 points per contest over their eight encounters overall.
- Although the Blue Hose and the Tornado have frequently established themselves as the two premier players in the Southeast Region, Saturday's bout will be just the second-ever dual between the two powerhouses. King took the only other tussle in the series back in 2019, part of PC's inaugural season.
- Once Saturday's skirmish has settled, Presbyterian will engage in a first-time-ever meeting versus Campbellsville, a program that will enter the dual with two straight W's over Missouri Valley College (35-10) and Indiana Tech (34-12).
- The Tigers have surpassed the 30-point clip on seven separate dates this year – including over 40 in each of their first four wins – matching the Blue Hose with a 3-2 mark in the NAIA chapter of the NWCA National Duals.
LAST TIME OUT
- Coach V's roster submitted another historical feat in Cedar Falls by downing three top-ten enemies out of five faced altogether, capping off their performance in the tourney with a 28-19 victory versus # 4 Colorado Mesa (the highest-ranked win in the brief history of the program).
- Presby alternated W's and L's at the esteemed event, getting the better of # 9 New Jersey City and # 8 Lock Haven prior to the tournament-closer over the Mavericks. The Blue Hose have now defeated seven nationally-ranked schools since January of 2023, thirsty for another major one in 24 hours' time.
- 130-pounder
Cassia Zammit was sensational in all of PC's Iowa wins, never taking a loss as she increased her personal win count to 17 of an already-terrific freshman stint in the blue and garnet.
- Presbyterian has gathered a grand total of 144 individual victories since the season started two months ago, making significant strides for a lineup almost entirely comprised of underclassmen and new faces to the program.
- One of those new faces – 170-pounder
Henlee Haynes – was recently selected as the NWCA Region 2 Wrestler of the Month over the December period, going 9-1 throughout that time frame that included a runner-up finish at the famed Midlands Championships in Chicago just before the turn of the new calendar.
