Presbyterian Begins the Season Running in Belmont Opener on Friday Morning

The Presbyterian College men's and women's cross country teams begin their 2024 season on Friday morning at the Belmont Opener in Nashville, Tennessee. The women's 5K starts at 9:40 a.m. on Friday while the men's 5K begins at 10:10 a.m. Both races are scheduled to take place at Percy Warner Park in Nashville.

About the Meet
The Belmont Opener will have the following teams joining the Blue Hose on Friday morning: Austin Peay, Belmont, Lipscomb, Tennessee Tech, Vanderbilt, and Western Kentucky.
 
About the Blue Hose
  • Presbyterian coach GJ Hudgens is in his seventh season as the Blue Hose head coach.
  • Presbyterian's women's team returns five letterwiners while welcoming two newcomers to the 2024 roster.
  • The men's team has six returning letterwinners while adding four newcomers. 
Notables
  • Noah Kaufman broke the program's 5k record in last season's Belmont Opener with a time of 17:02.1.
  • Gavin Guyton, David Harner, Ethan Trombly, and Jacob Smith are making their collegiate debuts for the men's team.
  • In the season-opening meet the last two seasons, Isabel Whitman ran her fastest time in a season-opener.
  • Both teams will wear Pink Uniforms in honor of a member of the team's mother who is currently winning her battle against breast cancer.
 
2024 Slate
  • The race in Nashville is the first of four regular-season races for the Blue Hose in 2023. • Next, the Blue Hose travel to the coast of North Carolina to run in the UNCW Beach Blast on September 6.
  • Then, Presbyterian travels to Spartanburg, South Carolina to run in the Converse Kickoff on September 21.
  • PC concludes the regular season at the Queens City Invite in Charlotte, North Carolina.
  • The Big South Conference Championship is in North Charleston, South Carolina on November 1.
