CLINTON, S.C. – The next two days for the #6 Presbyterian College women's wrestling team could go a long way toward their national championship aspirations next spring, once again competing in the annual "Throwdown on the Yorktown" event tomorrow before hosting their own tournament on Sunday afternoon.
Live from the USS Yorktown naval aircraft carrier in Charleston, the Blue Hose will dual the number one team in America tomorrow: the Iowa Hawkeyes. Once that dual is done, they'll face Delaware State at the same location.
On Sunday, PC comes back to Clinton for the Blue Hose Challenge where a mix of the NCAA's best teams will compete against them in a tournament setting.
Reigning Southeast Region Coach of the Year
Brian Vutianitis will bring six nationally-ranked wrestlers with him to Yorktown where they'll look to dethrone the #1 team in the country.
Over 1,200 tickets have already been purchased in advance for tomorrow's Yorktown event, a slate that will also feature the PC men's wrestling team dual Campbell.
This will be the second straight year that Presbyterian has moderated the Blue Hose Challenge, winning an impressive eight individual championships at that tourney last season.

SCOUTING THE HAWKEYES & HORNETS
- One of only two institutions to currently have a wrestler ranked in the top ten for every weight class (along with North Central), Iowa rolls into this brand-new season as two-time national champs.
- None of those 10 nationally-ranked wrestlers are lower than fourth, including a trio who are #1: Ava Bayless (110), Kennedy Blades (160), and Kylie Welker (180).
- The Hawkeyes have not lost a match thus far in two duals against Central College and Cornell College, winning those two by a combined score of 87-0.
- Iowa also took home five titles at the Waldorf Open in their most recent appearance last weekend.
- On the flip side, Delaware State is in the middle of their first-ever women's wrestling season and opened the schedule in 8
th place out of 32 teams at an East Stroudsburg tournament.
- Presbyterian will be DSU's very first dual opponent in program history, instituting Kenya Sloan (former athlete at Campbellsville) as the inaugural head coach.
LAST TIME OUT
- The Blue Hose sent 23 wrestlers to Adrian last Saturday and ended with eight bronze-or-better finishes. Dearwester and Giangeruso went a combined 8-0 to claim the 110 and 138-lb. trophies.
- Coach V's squad stacked up 65 wins over the course of those brackets, seeing
Lilly Luttrell nab 2
nd-place in class 160 and five others reach a 3
rd-place standing.
- PC's great start isn't limited to their tournament success, as they handily defeated Allen, Newberry, and Huntingdon each by at least 37 points in dual play.
