CLINTON, S.C. – Presbyterian Blue Hose head men's basketball coach
Quinton Ferrell announced the signing of Langston Hackworth, a 6-foot-9 forward from Andrew Jackson High School in Jacksonville, Florida.
"I am very excited for our program with the signing of Langston Hackworth," Ferrell said. "Langston is a young man who we prioritized instantly in the recruiting process once we evaluated him. Langston is a highly skilled big with great size and physicality. Langston can score the basketball in a variety of ways. He can post up on the low block in the half-court and get a basket. Langston can really shoot the basketball and has great range on his jumper. He gives you the unique ability to space the floor with your big because of his 3-point shooting ability. Langston is also comfortable dribbling and passing the ball on the perimeter, which will allow us to utilize him as a facilitator in the half-court as well.
Langston is a tremendous young man and is someone who embodies all the characteristics we look for in our student-athletes at PC. Langston is a hard worker both on and off the court. He is a high-character young man who represents his community well, and I look forward to him doing the same thing on the campus at PC and in the Clinton and Lauren's County community. I want to welcome Langston and his entire family to the Blue Hose family!"
Hackworth averaged 16.4 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 2.1 assists while shooting 42 percent from beyond the three-point arc while earning All-Conference honors last season. He earned Tournament MVP honors three times for his performance on the Big Shots Circuit, playing for his OTOD AAU team. Hackworth's father, Donny, played college basketball at UNC Wilmington.
"Langston is a terrific young man who has put in a lot of work," said Andrew Jackson coach Byron Shemwell. "He has a chance to be a great player. We are proud of him and his signing with Presbyterian."
