ADRIAN, Mich. – The #5 Presbyterian College women's wrestling team enjoyed a profitable afternoon at the Adrian Open, sending 23 competitors to the tournament and posting eight top-three finishes on Sunday.

Sophomores Chloe Dearwester and Carina Giangeruso (both nationally-ranked in their respective weight class) took home 1^st-place honors at the event. Lilly Luttrell obtained the silver medal, while five others came in 3^rd.

The cast of wrestlers at this tournament was so large and competitive, there were 23 brackets instead of the usual 10. PC was well-represented up north, collecting 65 wins altogether.

Presbyterian took another positive step in the early stages of a still-young season, now with two individual titles to add to their 3-0 duals record. A Blue Hose wrestler won via pin 30 times on Sunday.


 
NOTABLES

 
- Giangeruso and Dearwester went a combined 8-0 in PC's first tourney of the season, syncing up for three technicals and a pair of pins.

- Dearwester needed just 35 seconds to pick up the W over Albion's Gabriella Motz in the 110-lb. championship, while Giangeruso (the team's highest-placer at Nationals over the spring) bested North Central's Grace Stem with a 10-0 tech in class 138.

- A big chunk of Presbyterian's success on Sunday came in the consolation rounds, as true freshman Kaylie Hall (160) secured six consecutive wins in her bracket after dropping the first bout.

- Lexi Fornshell (180) carved a similar path to bronze, also winning six in a row after an initial loss and getting her last win with a 68-second pin against Mount Union's Lori Grimes.

- Rookie Elizabeth Donovan won five of her six encounters to snag 3^rd in class 138 (just behind Giangeruso), while junior Maddie Kubicki pinned her opponent from Grand Valley State in just 30 seconds to take bronze.

- Lilly Luttrell (160) won her first four matches all by either pin or technical, ultimately dropping the championship match to Gannon's Leyna Rumpler.
