#6 Blue Hose in Alabama for Saturday Duals, Sunday Tournament

MONTGOMERY, Al. – Another busy two-day stretch is on deck for the sixth-ranked Presbyterian College women's wrestling team, venturing to Huntingdon College in Alabama for a string of four duals tomorrow and the annual Red Lady Open on Sunday.

The Blue Hose and their nine nationally-ranked wrestlers will begin the festivities on Saturday against D-III Schreiner University at 1:00. From there, they'll dual Randolph College at 2:30, Mount Olive at 5:30, and NAIA Montreat College at 7:00.

Once that quartet is complete, the Huntingdon tournament will commence on Sunday morning at 10:00 AM. Flo Wrestling will display live results for both tomorrow's duals and the next day's brackets.

Presbyterian goes into the new calendar year with an 8-2 record in dual territory, winners of four consecutive matches. Three of those W's in this ongoing streak came against top-20 opponents, downing #5 Colorado Mesa, #8 Simon Fraser, and #18 Frostburg State.

Head coach Brian Vutianitis' roster blew right past Frostburg in their most recent dual by a 34-6 count. Junior Alyssa Mahan acquired her 70th career win via 12-1 technical, while sophomore All-American Carina Giangeruso scooped up her 40th career win via 10-0 tech.

#6 Presbyterian (8-2) @ Red Lady Open

LIVE RESULTS: Flo Wrestling

SCOUTING SCHREINER

- Three of PC's four opponents tomorrow will be going up against the Blue Hose for the first time ever, including the Schreiner Mountaineers who are based in Texas.

- Led by head coach Troy Jewel, Schreiner displays one of the youngest rosters in the sport with 16 freshmen. All but one of their 25 student-athletes is a native of the Lone Star State.

- The Mountaineers appeared alongside PC at the Desert Duals last month in Las Vegas, although the two schools never crossed paths.

SCOUTING RANDOLPH

- Starting with a 3-0 mark but mostly a mixed bag since then, the Randolph Wildcats are another first-time foe for the Scotsmen at Saturday's neutral site.

- Randolph defiantly broke a three-match losing streak in their most recent effort versus Loras College in Nashville, winning a 43-0 shutout. They've produced at least 39 points in each of their last four dual victories.

- Interestingly, head coach Brooke Richards' unit has not appeared in any tournaments this season, opting for duals only. This is Randolph's second season fielding a women's wrestling program.

SCOUTING MOUNT OLIVE

- Holding the smallest body of work among Presby's four combatants, Mount Olive made an earlier visit to Clinton back in November for the second-annual Blue Hose Challenge where they finished 8th out of 32 schools.

- The Trojans have also faced Montreat this winter (a 27-21 defeat) and have come up short in two prior battles with the Blue Hose. PC bettered Mount Olive by 23 points 13 months ago.

- UMO placed 4th at the Southeast Region Tournament last spring, coached by Dan Willis in his fifth season at the helm.

SCOUTING MONTREAT

- A rising program in the NAIA ranks, Montreat began the campaign with an impressive 9-0 record although they've dropped their last three affairs.

- The Cavaliers and second-year head coach Koby Reyes find themselves on the outside of the NAIA national rankings, falling to #6 Lindsey Wilson, #19 Campbellsville, #8 Cumberlands (twice), and #1 Life.

- Montreat averaged 36 points per dual over the first month of the season. However, that number has dipped to just 22 points per dual in the seven contests since then.
