Women’s Wrestling Sets New Program Record with #3 Preseason Ranking; Eight Blue Hose in National Top Ten

MANHEIM, Pa. – A perennial national championship contender, the Presbyterian College women's wrestling team has achieved their highest-ever preseason ranking from the NWCA (announced on Friday afternoon). PC will begin the season slotted number three, boasting eight wrestlers in the individual top-ten for their respective weight class.

The Blue Hose captured the Southeast Region team title last spring for the second season in a row, qualifying one wrestler from all 10 weight classes to the inaugural national championship tournament to be sponsored by the NCAA.

Two-time Region Coach of the Year Brian Vutianitis has built a juggernaut that finished in 5th place as a team at Nationals last year. Presbyterian claimed six All-Americans for the second consecutive campaign.

Defending national champion McKendree takes the top spot in the NWCA preseason coaches' poll, with runner-up Iowa on their heels. Those two and PC are the only three schools in the country that have eight wrestlers ranked in the preseason individual top-ten.

Chloe Dearwester (110), Jenna Anderson (117), Alyssa Mahan (124), Maddie Kubicki (145), May Cuyler (160), and Maria Aiono (207) all finished in the top eight at Nationals to garner All-American status back in March.

Those six will enter a brand-new season with 335 combined wins, four Region Championships, and 11 separate All-America honors.

PC will rev their engines and start fresh again on November 1, traveling to the northeast for a tournament at Princeton.
