PRINCETON, N.J. – The national championship pursuit begins this weekend for the preseason #3-ranked Presbyterian College women's wrestling team, venturing to the northeast to participate in the Princeton Open on Sunday.
Mats will be live at 9:00 AM, with full coverage provided by Flo Wrestling. After setting a new program record by finishing 5
th at the inaugural NCAA national championship tournament last March, PC begins a fresh slate with eight individuals in the preseason top 10 for their respective weight class.
Expectations are through the roof for two-time Southeast Region Coach of the Year
Brian Vutianitis, as the Blue Hose return all six of their All-Americans from last season.
Presbyterian's roster features eight wrestlers who have been recognized as an All-American at least once in their career. PC, Iowa, and reigning national champion McKendree are the only three schools to have eight grapplers in the national top 10.
Princeton has been a frequent location for Presby to open past seasons, as they last competed at this event in 2024. There, the Scotsmen lined up 49 total victories and ended with 10 top-three placements.

WINTER WINNERS
- Last season was another banner year for Vutianitis and co., who captured the Southeast Region title for the second straight time and qualified all 10 weight classes to Nationals as a result.
-
Maddie Kubicki (145) became the first wrestler in Blue Hose history to win All-America honors in three separate seasons, finishing higher than anyone else on the roster at Nationals (4
th).
- Then-sophomore
May Cuyler (160) rose to 5
th at Nationals after placing 6
th as a rookie. In July, she qualified for the U20 Pan-American Championships in Brazil and represented Team USA to a silver medal in her weight class.
- Other notable performances by the Blue Hose last season came from
Chloe Dearwester (110) and
Jenna Anderson (117) who both placed 6
th at Nationals. Anderson was later selected as the NCAA Region II Rookie of the Year.
- Presbyterian's group effort at Nationals was a solid punctuation to a tremendous campaign. Throughout the regular season, PC collected an 18-3 record in dual play while beating eight opponents who were in the top 20.
LAST TIME AT PRINCETON
- The Blue Hose were still in the middle of their ascension when they traveled to Princeton two years ago, impressing on all fronts with 23 pins and 18 technical falls.
- That tournament marked the collegiate debuts for Dearwester, Cuyler,
Carina Giangeruso, and
Maria Aiono. Each of them now have at least one All-America accolade on their resume, as they combined to go 16-2 at Princeton on that day.
-
Alyssa Mahan (who begins her senior season this weekend) placed 2
nd in PC's last trip to Princeton for class 124. She currently holds the Blue Hose record by earning 83 career victories, with Kubicki just five behind her.
