CLINTON, S.C. ? Presbyterian College scored a late run against USC Upstate, however the Spartans emerged victorious by a 5-1 count on Thursday afternoon at the PC Baseball Complex.

PC (7-15) collected six of its seven hits from the seventh inning on, while the Spartans (12-13) finished with 15 hits in the game.

Seven hitters gathered at least one hit for PC, including Steven Henry (Hoschton, Ga.) who went 1-for-3 from the plate. Teammate Zac Rhinesmith (Acworth, Ga.) was 1-for-4 with one run from the eight spot in the lineup.

Kyle Simpson and Phillip Morgan led the USC Upstate lineup from the plate with three-hit performances. Morgan also accounted for the only extra-base hit with a triple in the fifth inning.

PC's Jesse Harmon (Newberry, S.C.) took his third loss of the season in the contest, allowing eight hits and two earned runs over six innings on the mound.

AJ Clark (2-0) earned the victory for USC Upstate, scattering five hits and walking one PC batter in 7.2 innings of action. Clark allowed the game's only run before giving way to Justin Hayes. Hayes earned the save after inheriting a bases loaded situation for the Spartans in the eighth inning.

Trailing 5-0 in the bottom of the eighth inning, Rhinesmith singled to left field for PC. Harmon followed with a single up the middle before Cory Lyda (Simpsonville, S.C.) loaded the bases with a single into left field.

Robbie Anders (Greenville, S.C.) then reached on a fielder's choice to plate Rhinesmith for the lone PC run in the contest.

After a three-day break from action, PC next returns to the PC Baseball Complex on Tuesday, April 1 to face Upstate rival Furman. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
