CLINTON, S.C. – Presbyterian College head baseball coach Elton Pollock has announced the promotion of Darrion Smith to Pitching Coach for the Blue Hose.

Coach Smith wrapped up his first season with Presbyterian in 2026, serving as the Director of Pitching Development and Technology. With the help of Smith, right-handed pitcher Tyrell Williams was named to the All-Big South Second Team, one of four Blue Hose players to earn postseason All-Conference honors.

"Coach Smith's dedication and commitment to the Blue Hose program is top notch," said Coach Pollock. "He brings a wealth of energy and enthusiasm to our staff, as well as a great deal of knowledge in the pitching development and game management areas. He has a true passion for teaching the game and is an effective communicator. I expect him to make an immediate impact on our pitching staff."

Before arriving in Clinton, Smith spent two seasons as an assistant pitching coach at Xavier University of Louisiana, playing an instrumental role in developing the pitching staff.

While completing his master's degree, Smith previously served as an assistant pitching coach at Georgetown University. He is also the founder of Smith's Baseball Academy, an initiative committed to developing well-rounded athletes by combining advanced baseball instruction with mentorship focused on personal growth and life skills. The academy's mission is to prepare athletes for long-term success in both competition and their future endeavors.

Smith holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from Lincoln Christian University and later earned his master's degree in sports industry management from Georgetown University.
