JACKSONVILLE, Fla. ? Presbyterian College dropped the final game of its two-game series with North Florida on Wednesday at Harmon Stadium by the score of 16-7.
The loss dropped the Blue Hose to 4-5 on the year, while North Florida improved to 5-3 overall with the victory over PC.
The two teams combined for 30 hits in the game with North Florida collecting 20 of the hits.
Kyle Craven (Savannah, Ga.) led the Blue Hose in the contest with two hits. He was 2-for-5 overall in the game. Senior catcher William Bolchoz (Mt. Pleasant, S.C.) had a team-high three RBIs in the game.
Chad Knight led the North Florida attack in the game, finishing with a career-best five hits.
The Blue Hose rattled off the first four runs of the game in the top of the second to tally a 4-0 lead. Nate Horton (Spartanburg, S.C.) got things going for PC in the inning when he singled to right center. Steven Henry (Hoschton, Ga.) then gave PC runners at first and second when he was awarded first base on catcher's interference.
Jared Combs (Pooler, Ga.) then singled in Horton to give PC a 1-0 advantage. With Combs and Henry on the bases, Bolchoz then acquired all three of his RBIs on a three-run home run that gave PC the 4-0 lead.
The Ospreys narrowed the lead to one with three runs in the bottom of the third inning. They would then take the lead for good with a combined 13 runs in their final three at-bats.
The Blue Hose next stay in the Sunshine State for another two-game series. PC will play Florida A&M in a two-game series in Tallahassee, Fla. on Thursday, March 6 and Friday, March 7. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Thursday, while first pitch in Friday's tilt is slated for 1 p.m.
