GREENVILLE, N.C. ? Presbyterian College baseball fell 6-1 to East Carolina on Friday evening at Clark-LeClair Stadium.
The Blue Hose dropped to 12-28 on the season with the loss, while East Carolina acquired its 30th win of the year in the contest to improve to 30-13 on the season.
PC opened the game by scoring the first run of the contest in the top of the first inning. Casey Carlson (Lexington, S.C.) acquired PC's only run in the game when he scored on a fielding error by the ECU third baseman. Carlson was walked to reach base.
Carlson was 1-for-3 overall from the plate for PC in the game. He was one of three Blue Hose to collect a hit in the game. Jesse Harmon (Newberry, S.C.) and Kyle Craven (Savannah, Ga.) each had one hit for PC on Friday evening.
After PC's lone run in the first the Pirates would score six unanswered runs from that point on to take the 6-1 win.
The Pirates had four players with two hits on Friday. Stephen Batts led the way for ECU in the contest by going 2-for-3 with one RBI and two runs scored. Batts has now hit in 12 consecutive games for the Pirates.
Seth Maness pitched six and one-third of an inning for ECU on Friday evening, striking out eight Blue Hose. Maness is a perfect 7-0 on the season on the hill for the Pirates after the win over PC on Friday.
The Blue Hose and ECU will play a doubleheader Saturday starting at 1 p.m. The second game is scheduled to start approximately 45 minutes after the conclusion of the first game.
