Anders And Harmon Lead PC On Tuesday

KENNESAW, Ga. ? Presbyterian College's Robbie Anders and Jesse Harmon both had four hits on the day, but it was not enough as the Blue Hose dropped both games of a doubleheader with Kennesaw State on Tuesday evening at Stillwell Stadium. Kennesaw State earned a 9-1 victory in game one before taking a 6-0 win in game two.

 

The Blue Hose are now 8-21 on the year, while Kennesaw State improved to 17-16 on the year with the two wins.

 

Game One

 

PC was led in the game one loss by Harmon (Newberry, S.C.), who finished with a game-high three hits. Harmon was 3-for-4 from the dish in the contest.

 

The three hits obtained by Harmon in game one marked the team-high tying ninth time in 2008 that he had obtained multiple hits in a single contest. Harmon has seven two-hit games in 2008 and two three-hit contests.

 

Harmon was one of two Blue Hose to finish with multiple hits in game one. Robbie Anders (Greenville, S.C.) was 2-for-3.

 

The five combined hits picked up between Harmon and Anders were a part of PC's 11 hits in the game. Kennesaw State finished with 12 hits in the contest.


Kennesaw State had four players with two hits in the contest with Drew Fowlkes leading the way. Fowlkes was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

 

Kennesaw State opened the game by scoring five runs in the first inning. They scored four more over the course of the game, but PC was only able to collect one run in the top of the sixth inning.

 

Cory Lyda (Simpsonville, S.C.) picked up the RBI on PC's lone run in the contest when he doubled to left center to bring in Harmon, who had singled through the left side to get on base.

 

Game Two

 

The Blue Hose may not have scored any runs in the 6-0 game two loss, but PC had 10 hits in the contest. Kennesaw State only had eight.

 

Lyda and Anders led PC in the game two loss. Both finished with two hits, going 2-for-4 from the plate in the game. Harmon had one hit for PC in the contest.

Jace Whitmer led KSU in the second game. Whitmer was 2-for-2 with three RBIs in the second game for the Owls.

 

Jim Wagers (Blackstock, S.C.) took the loss for PC in game two from the hill. Wagers was able to strike out a game-high three batters.

 

Next Up

 

The Blue Hose will next hold their inaugural “Community Day at the Ball Park” at the PC Baseball Complex on Saturday, April 12.

 

The special day will allow Blue Hose fans to watch the Blue Hose take on Savannah State in a doubleheader, beginning at 1 p.m.

 

The game with Savannah State will serve as the final fundraiser of the year for the Blue Hose baseball program. There will be hot dogs, drinks, snacks and Blue Hose baseball hats and apparel for sale at the contest.

 

The best part about the “Community Day at the Ball Park” at the PC Baseball Complex in Clinton, S.C. is that admission to the doubleheader is absolutely FREE!

 

The next day in the final game of the three-game series with Savannah State on Sunday, April 13 it will be Senior Day at the PC Baseball Complex. The Blue Hose coaching staff will honor their eight seniors and two redshirt juniors prior to the contest.
