FOREST
CITY, N.C. - Presbyterian College
earned a 4-2 win on Wednesday evening over Wofford College in Forest City, N.C.
The win is PC's third consecutive and improves the Blue Hose to 5-10 on the
season while Wofford drops to 5-7.
The Blue Hose broke the scoreless
deadlock in the third inning when Gabe Grammer scored off a double by Aaron
Preston. PC's second run came on the next batter when Matt Hill scored off a
balk as a part of his 2-for-3 day at the plate. Leadoff hitter Mack Hite plated
the third run of the inning with a single to score Preston.
Wofford cut into the Blue Hose lead with
two runs in the fifth to make the line 4-2. Unfortunately for the Terriers, the
pair of runs would be all the visitors on the scoreboard could manage.
PC tacked on an insurance run in the
bottom of the eighth. Preston opened the
inning with a triple for his second hit in three attempts on the day. Tony Mickon brought the Preston around to
score his second run of the day with an RBI double.
Chris Powell earned the win for the PC
as the senior righty worked an inning and a third. The hurler made his entrance with two down in
the top of the third and struck out two batters. In all, eight pitchers worked for the Blue
Hose.
Jesse Harmon worked the ninth inning to
nail down the save for the Blue Hose.
The senior fanned one batter en route to his second save of the season.
Presbyterian College will travel south
for a weekend series against UCF starting on Friday evening at 6:30 p.m. The second game starts on Saturday afternoon
at 4 p.m. with the finale starting on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.
